TESTIMONIALS

"In 1989 we regained our freedom. 1989 was the year of the return to democracy in all the states of the former communist. With accession into the European Union in 2007 and—until the recent global downturn—a growing economy, Romania’s integration into a pluralist and prosperous Europe seemed assured. Questions about the 1989 Revolution have remained unanswered but they have receded into the past as Romanians try to look to the future."

  • Cristina, Romania

"The Berlin wall did not fall and the Iron Curtain was not lifted just by itself. They have been removed by the strong desire of the people, in our case Czechoslovakians, who wanted to live in a free society. They wanted to rejoin our partners in Western Europe, wanted to leave in a united, free, prosperous Europe on the free continent. That was the decisive factor why the Velvet Revolution was so successful."

  • Dominika, Slovakia

"Revolutions of 1989 were worth it. It is always necessary fight for freedom and democracy, like it was in 1989 in Eastern Europe."
